About Handel B
Handel Beckles is a seventies kid born one Sunday morning to the Beckles and sandy family. He came out kicking and singing. If you knew Tobago's history these two families have carried and kept good singing alive for at least three generations.
At the age of three Handel made his debut at his home church in Bethel singing the little chorus taught to him by his paternal grand mother; "Ye are the light of the world".
Growing up in a large family where Christ was the center, singing was a daily staple on the worship menu. The harmony of voices blended so well that neighbors testified often of its effects as calming to the soul. At the age of ten Handel began accepting invitations to sing at community programs and often represented his church at music festivals. At this tender age he developed the confidence that placed him threaders above the rest.
Handel B started the Gospel harmonizers in high school at ten and a half. later sang 1st tenor and did lead vocals for Sweet Salvation Singers. By age thirteen won 1st place for the boys tenor solo thirteen to sixteen at queens Hall Trinidad. That year he also took home the Jerry Stewart's teen talent Tobago competition first place prize.
Handel continued to sing with several quartets and church choir. silver echoes, classics, golden echoes, and the ivory states men to mention a few.
His singing career took a dive several years later after a series of local concerts between Trinidad and Tobago. After he was diagnosed with vocal abuse. Handel had to give up singing for a while suffered severe hoarseness and pains. Dr's advised that it could mean the end of his career at this time, others claimed that he would never sing again. but in 1992 he took the faith route and had prayer and anointing for his healing. One week later he was singing again. Handel then dedicated his life and voice to the God who alone can make and recreate.
After moving to the us in 1998 life took on new meaning and the call of God came to him to commit to ministry. so he did, studied Evangelism and then later completed a B.A in Theology.
as an evangelist Handel traveled the us from Maine to Florida singing doing small gigs, church services, crusades, revivals and local concerts.
In 2004 his friend and colleague in an effort to console the evangelist during a time of severe hardship and depression and loss, opened his studio one evening and said to him sing bishop sing. sing anything! And tossed him a hymnal. This was the birth of his first recordings a compilation of hymns that blessed him in tough times. packaged under the title "Through The Storm".
This man who claims that he is living his third life, is a Servant, Husband, Father, Preacher, Spiritual leader, community activist, nurse, and is presented to us now as Singer song writer. His hope, that you could feel the passion in his song receive salvation through its lyrics and be blessed for having the experience.
